Possibilities for incoming students

The courses in the Security & Safety Engineering program are mainly conducted in German. English speaking students may participate in the "International Semester" and select any courses conducted in English offered at the University of Furtwangen.
In the Security & Safety Engineering program, course instructors also offer research or laboratory studies in English. Using all these possibilities, it is feasible to complete 20 - 30 ECTS with limited German language skills.
Two weeks before the start of the lecture period, an orientation program for new international students takes place on the Furtwangen and Villingen-Schwenningen campuses. It includes an intensive German language course as well as support with all kinds of administrative matters such as enrollment, health insurance, and registration at the town hall. Participation in the orientation programme is compulsory for exchange students and students who are enrolled in degree programs taught in English.
Each semester a number of excursions and events are organized by the International Center and the International Student Community. The International Center also runs a "buddy program" and a "host family program" for those who would like to make contact with German family.
